Why become Catholic?
Every year hundreds of people decide to become Catholic, and each one has their own special story. Each is drawn to the Church by different experiences and circumstances.
St Augustine – a great Saint of the Church – said, “Our hearts are restless, O Lord, until they rest in you.” The desire for God is written in the human heart, because humankind is created by God and for God; and God never ceases to draw all humanity to himself.
If you would like to become a Catholic or would like to inquire into learning and practising the Catholic faith, please contact the Parish Office.
We often refer to the process of becoming a Catholic as ‘RCIA’ which means the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults into the Catholic Church. Those seeking to become Catholic will be prepared for receiving the Sacraments and entering into the Catholic Church. This preparation involves reading the Bible/Scriptures, learning the basics of the faith, learning to pray and attending Mass.
Taking the next step
There is no pressure or obligation for those inquiring about becoming Catholic. We welcome all enquiries. If you are interested in becoming Catholic or simply finding out more about the RCIA, we encourage you to attend Mass at St. Bernard’s and speak to our parish priest.
Alternatively, please get in touch with our parish office for more information. We look forward to hearing from you!
